Dana Jones was a 2019 Caltech LIGO SURF undergrad student supervised by myself on a continuous-wave data analysis project. Her SURF program report is available here. She continued working with me after the program finished and published the work "Search for continuous gravitational waves from Fomalhaut b in the second Advanced LIGO observing run with a hidden Markov model" in PRD. Dana will start a PhD program supervised by me at CGA ANU in 2022.
Mallika Sinha (2021 ANU summer internship & ongoing research): Optimising a Neutron Star Extreme Matter Observatory (NEMO) for post-merger science of binary neutron star mergers
Ethan Payne was a short-term research student at CGA ANU, working on a project studying the imprint of superradiance on hierarchical black hole mergers and the inference of ultralight boson existence and properties using black hole populations. I co-supervised him with Eric Thrane and Paul Lasky from the Monash University. This work has been lately submitted for peer review and posted on arXiv. He is now a PhD student at Caltech LIGO Lab, working on gravitational-wave data and inference projects.
Xiang Li is a PhD student at Caltech supervised by Yanbei Chen, working on research projects in the areas of quantum measurement theory, optomechanics, and gravitational-wave analysis. I have been her research mentor since I was at Caltech, mainly on a project studying the ringdown angular emission patterns of the remnant black holes formed in binary black hole mergers (recently published in PRD). I have been continuing to mentor her on follow-up and new studies about black hole ringdown.
Benjamin Grace is a PhD student at CGA ANU, working on the development of new techniques to search for gravitational waves from post-merger remnants of binary neutron star mergers. Ben is under the primary supervision of Karl Wette. Susan Scott and I are his associate supervisors.
Shuo Xin was a 2019 Caltech LIGO SURF undergrad student who I co-supervised with Baoyi Chen, Rico K. L. Lo, and Yanbei Chen. His SURF program report is available here. He continued working on this project after the program finished and the work "Gravitational-wave echoes from spinning exotic compact objects: numerical waveforms from the Teukolsky equation" The paper is published in PRD lately.
Rebecca White was a 2020 Caltech LIGO SURF undergrad student supervised by myself on a gravitational-wave signal processing project. Her SURF program report is available here.
